Here’s What Happened In Egypt

What a month this has been spending the entire time in Egypt! This was my 25th trip to Egypt! I’ve been going since 1983. It’s so amazing that every single time there are new things which happen, new things to see, and new downloads and awarenesses which come in. My friends sometimes say, “Aren’t you over Egypt yet?” And the answer is definitely not!

This year was another incredible adventure – two trips, two fantastic groups, double the energy, double the fun.

We were in a cocoon of amazement the entire time.

As our shaman in Peru, Jorge Luis Delgado, says, it was EXTRAORDINARY – Extra + ordinary.

Where do I start?

The ceremonies we did were truly extraordinary. We had private time in the Great Pyramid and between the paws of the Sphinx. Just us, no other tourists. I got an email from one of our people yesterday and he said:

“I felt emotions that I could not control. I tried to, but I could not control it and I don’t know what that was. I tried to hold it back, but I couldn’t. Honestly, that was one of the greatest moments of my life.”

And look at this photo which Richard took when we were in Abydos. What the heck is this? We were in Abydos and Richard suddenly said to me, “Give me your phone, give me your phone.” He took this photo and he said, “I saw this energy” and then took the photo. We showed it to our amazing guide, Raafat, and he immediately said, “That’s her Ba.”

In ancient Egyptian belief, the Ba is essentially the soul. In this ancient temple, her soul literally showing itself.

How can you measure that kind of experience? There are no words.

I’m reminded of something Oprah said a number of years ago where she said she no longer wants presents, she wants experiences.

And aren’t we all looking for something to make our lives more than just ordinary? Extraordinary.

We were especially blessed to have our dear friend, Rob Wergin and his beautiful wife, Alex, on our first trip.

Rob is such an amazing healer and he added so much to the ceremonies, what a gift!

We also did a private visit to the Tomb of Wahtye. Again, this is closed to the public, you can only get in with a private visit.

The tomb was just discovered in 2015 and it is so unusual, it is turning on its head some of the beliefs that archeologists have about the tombs in ancient Egypt, so fascinating.

The tomb was featured in the Netflix documentary “Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb” and our guide for this tour was in the documentary. He’s a young man and he’s the one in the documentary where every time they find something new they would say to him, “You jump in and see what’s in there!” How extraordinary to have his insights in this incredible place.

The friendliness of the Egyptians is just legendary and really real. Some people will say to me at the beginning of the trip, “Oh they just want our money, that’s why they’re so friendly” and then by the end of the trip, they get it – it’s for real.

Okay, check this out. Christel is a wonderful woman who I just love and she did a Soul Adventure with us a number of years ago. Then she went on the Egypt trip with us three years ago. After that, she completed our Soul Coaching Certification and became one of our Soul Coaches (I love how these trips always produce life-long connections). We had our monthly coaches meeting yesterday and I was talking about the Egypt trip and we were reminiscing about the Egypt trip she was on.

She told me for the first time that when she was in Egypt with us three years ago, she struck up a friendship with a woman who is a waitress at the Sonesta St. George Hotel in Luxor, the beautiful hotel we always stay at which is right on the Nile. She and this woman have stayed friends and she told me she’s received over 1000 messages from her on What’s App, just saying, “How are you?”, etc.

After our conversation yesterday she texted me, “She is such an amazing soul. I’m not sure how I was gifted with such a special friendship. Life can be so unexpected and beautiful!”

We went to a new jewelry store this year which was opened by one of my Egyptian friends (oh my gosh, such beautiful stuff!) and after we were there for about 15 minutes, one of the men in the shop came up to me and said, “I know you.” I just thought he was someone who recognized me from my being in Egypt twenty-five times, but then he suddenly said, “I’m Ramadan Ramy! We've been friends on Facebook for over 20 years!”

I couldn’t believe it! I met him over 20 years ago in one of the bazaars and we became friends on Facebook, and he’s always posting things like, “Here’s what the Luxor Temple looks like today,” etc. And we’ve had this sweet connection for all these years!

It’s these friendships and connections we have made over all these years that is the biggest thing for me. From high up officials to vendors who sell things like papyrus calendars. There’s a little old man in Abydos who we buy these from every year.

Every year I’m not sure he’ll still be there, he’s so aged, but every year he’s there and so excited to see us, it’s so sweet.

Everyone’s back now and they’re all sharing their incredible finds.

Egypt is known for its alabaster, isn’t this magnificent?

And look at this fabulous bowl! Just incredible.

Two other people got this beautiful rug. I have eight Egyptian rugs in my house, they remind me of my travels every time I look at them!

So it’s not all serious spiritual stuff, we have so much fun!

Plus, the new Grand Egyptian Museum! Oh my Goddess! It is just spectacular! It’s so huge, it’s state of the art, and it is so beautiful…I can’t wait for the Grand Opening. We saw the great entrance hall, plus the 12 new galleries which opened a few months ago. Just spectacular!

And now, it’s finally opening!! It will officially open on July 3. On our trip next year, we will spend an entire day there.

What I’m most excited about will be the King Tut Exhibit. For the first time ever, they will be displaying all of the over 5,000 artifacts that were found in King Tut’s tomb! Most of these have never been shown to the public and I can’t wait!!

I can’t even fathom what this is going to look like. I intend to spend the entire day there next year, soaking it all in.

Greetings from Egypt! We are having an amazing time!

How is it possible that it’s been a year since I was here last? And how is it possible that even though this is my 25th trip to Egypt (!), it’s still new and amazing?

But that’s the nature of this place. Everything we’re seeing is thousands and thousands of years old, but the mysteries are still fresh.

Mysteries such as: Who built the Pyramids? How did they get these huge stones to this place (some of which weigh over 2 tons) when they know they came from Aswan, which is an 8-hour train ride away? And how did they cut the stones with such laser-like precision that they fit together perfectly with no mortar?

It was so amazing to see the Tomb of Wahtye again. This was my second time and for Richard, his first time. This is the tomb they just discovered in 2018 and it is amazing! It was featured in the Netflix documentary "Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb" and it is closed to the general public. We made arrangements to do a private visit just for our group and it was incredible.

Riding camels to the Pyramids is always so much fun – they’re so sweet. And of course it’s so wonderful to be here with my beloved Richard. Here we are on the first day of the trip at the Great Pyramid. This is his eighth trip to Egypt and he’s become as fascinated as I am with all things Egyptian! What a wonderful thing to have in common.

Earlier this week, we watched the amazing Sound and Light show at the Pyramids and Sphinx. It’s so dramatic, it’s reminiscent of The Ten Commandments.

I love this photo that Richard shot – the Sphinx just looks otherworldly.

And as usual, the Egyptian people are so warm and welcoming. They always ask, “Where are you from?” and when I say, “America,” they always reply with a similar response - “We love Americans!”

We've ridden camels and hot air balloons. Our Nile Cruise ship is absolutely incredible! It's truly been the trip of a lifetime!

This place is especially significant for me. When I came to Egypt for the first time in 1983, I heard voices at this place. I'm not a person who usually hears voices (it's only happened two other times since) and that started me on a life-long quest to find out about my past lifetimes in Egypt and how they've impacted me in this life.

Having so much fun in Egypt!

Greetings from Egypt! We’re having such an incredible time!

It’s so incredible to me that even though this is my 24th time going to Egypt (!), it’s still so exciting and wonderful! Our group is just an amazing bunch of people and we all fell in love with each within the first 24 hours! That’s what always happens, I love it so much!

I have been going to this Egyptian oils and perfume shop and using their incredible oils since 1995. Every year I take our groups and they are all just amazed at the quality (and at the fun we have with Uncle!) The oils are so exquisite and because they are oil only (and no alcohol), they last forever!

And of course, you can’t be in Egypt without going on a camel ride. The camels are so sweet and gentle. Plus the weather has been perfect, it’s such a wonderful thing to do.

All in all, we’re having a fantastic time, wish you were here!

“I just want to be loved”

Have you seen this incredible image before?

It’s a sculpture that was done by Alexander Milov at the Burning Man festival a few years ago. For me, this just says it all for what happens when we have difficulties in relationships, whether it’s between two married people, two people in a love relationship, or even two friends or family members.

Even in our darkest despair (represented by the two figures turning away from each other in grief (or dejection, rejection, hopelessness, or whatever it is you see there)), what’s really happening is that the little boy or girl inside of each of us is actually trying to reach out to the other one saying, “I just want to be loved.”

We see this all the time with our couples retreats. People come to us and they are having a problem in their relationship, and it shows up as lots of different things — they aren’t getting along anymore, or there’s been infidelity, they don’t feel supported, the sizzle has gone out of the relationship, etc. But the bottom line that’s really happening, is that one or both of them isn’t getting what they want. They’re not getting the love they want; they’re not getting the approval they want; they’re not getting the support they want; they’re not getting the kind of intimacy they want. And in most cases, even the fighting and arguing are just them reaching out saying, “I just want to be loved.”

The problem is, when we’re in the middle of that, we simply can’t see it. If we have a partner who isn’t treating us the way we want to be treated or they’re doing things that we don’t like, or (worse) if they’re being dishonest and uncaring, it’s pretty hard to not just keep focusing on that. It’s almost impossible, when you’re in the middle of a shouting match, to understand that that is really a cry for love.

I was reminded of that a while ago when we had a couple here who had already decided to file for divorce. They came here deciding to give the relationship one last shot. Coming here to do a retreat was the husband’s idea and the wife was already pretty much done. Her husband had started an “emotional affair” with someone else, meaning he was talking to this other woman a lot but they weren’t having sex (however, that was going to happen next if they didn’t do something about this). The wife, of course, felt completely betrayed and shocked.

They both told us the marriage had been rocky for the past two years. They had stopped communicating, they had sex very infrequently and they were arguing a lot over inconsequential things. Their two children were both in college, so they were now empty nesters. Rather than relishing in their newfound freedom with each other, they felt like strangers. They both were working all the time and never made time for each other.

In their sessions, we uncovered and brought out the two wounded children that were inside both of them. It turned out that both of them grew up in homes where their parents didn’t get along and didn’t express love. Mike (not his real name) was acting just like his father: working too hard; angry a lot of the time. Mike’s father had felt like a failure because he lost his job in middle age and never really recovered from that. His father had an affair at the same age Mike was, and here was Mike about to follow in his father’s footsteps. He realized that he was never giving Claire enough emotional connection, just like he saw with his own parents.

Claire’s father was an alcoholic and that wreaked havoc and destroyed the family. Her parents finally split up when she was 10. We uncovered that Claire had made a decision at a young age – “I’m never going to let a man hurt me like that” – which really translated into “I’m never going to let a man get close enough to me to really get hurt.”

So deep inside were a wounded little boy and a wounded little girl, both of them afraid they weren’t being loved.

We did sessions with each of them individually to move the energy of those woundings that had happened to that little boy and little girl. They both had an underlying unconscious fear of “I’m not safe.” When they moved through that, they understood that they are safe. They’re adults, they are in the world, they can take care of themselves, they don’t have anything to be afraid of.

But even better, they realized they truly loved each other. In her Breath Journey, Claire experienced the love she had for Mike when they first met, and then she saw this beautiful vision of them floating on a boat on a river with Mike looking at her adoringly. Suddenly she literally saw the energy of their two hearts coming together and she knew they were meant to be together.

In their Relationship Connection session, Mike really got it how damaging the emotional affair was (even though at first he kept saying, “but we haven’t had sex”). He realized how he was playing out his father’s life and he didn’t want to do that! Both of them understood that they both needed specific ways of communicating their love for each other and they learned how to do that.

I got an email from Claire a few months after their Soul Adventure and she said she can’t believe how the simple tools they learned here have made all the difference. I reminded her that the biggest thing that happened was that the wounded little boy and the wounded little girl were healed. When you do that, it transforms everything.

The next time you and your partner argue or have a disagreement, see if you can step back just for a moment and ask yourself, “Is this just a cry for love?” I’m guessing that nine times out of ten, that will be the case. If you can communicate your love to each other in that moment, most of the time the upset falls away. I know it’s hard to do that when you’re in the middle of a confrontation, but you’ll be amazed at the results.

The problem is, none of us are trained to do that. And when we think the other person is wrong or has wronged us, it’s pretty impossible to move off of that position. And the underlying problem — the wounded little boy and the wounded little girl — are still there and hurting.

That’s why our Couples Retreats are so incredibly valuable. Because we’re healing the relationship by healing the wounded little boy and the wounded little girl. When they’re taken care of, the relationship can thrive and grow, and become happier and juicier than ever.

Once relationships start having problems, they can deteriorate fast. I know because I was a divorce attorney for 20 years! Don’t let that happen to you.

“We found the intimacy we have craved for so long”

I’m continuously amazed at what happens during our retreats, but this past week was so phenomenal, that I just have to tell you about it.

Before Catherine and her husband came to us, they were like so many people – just existing, not really living. Going along to get along and not experiencing the love, joy, peace, and intimacy that makes life so delicious. They had been married 27 years (!), they had been through some challenging and painful times and as she says, “We both desired to find out what was missing in our relationship.”

And isn’t that what we all want? When life isn’t juicy and wonderful, when our relationships are lacking, we want to find out what’s missing and fix it! And that’s just what happened!

This past weekend, Richard and I went to Southern California to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary! It was heaven.

And here’s a picture of us on our wedding day in the red rocks of Sedona. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years already.

They greet us warmly at the airport, and after that, we don’t touch another bag for 2 weeks. The #1 Way to Have Peace in Your Life

For most people, having peace in their lives seems like an impossible dream. Most people are stressed out and burned out, especially after this crazy year. Ironically, even though they’re doing too much, they don’t feel like they’re accomplishing anything.

Most people are worried about something that gnaws at them all the time. What is that for you? Do you worry about your job, your kids, your health, your spouse, your relationship, your money situation? Do you worry about the pandemic? Do you worry about other people liking you or loving you? Do you worry about your future? Do you worry about how your life is going to end up?

What’s your general state of mind during a typical day? Are you happy and excited? Or are you upset and frustrated? How do you react to things when something happens? Do you take it in stride or go into worry and upset?

Most people live in a general state of worry, upset or (even worse) hopelessness. It’s not hard to understand why that happens with everything that is going on in the world and in our day to day lives.

But the interesting thing is, it’s not all that stuff on the outside that is causing your sense of peace or lack of it. It’s how you’re reacting to all the stuff that’s happening…

And how you’re reacting to it is based on how you’re thinking and feeling about it…

And the way you’re thinking and feeling about it is probably rooted in something that happened to you a long time ago, in your formative years.

We had a woman who came for a Soul Adventure retreat awhile ago who first contacted us saying that she wanted to come to heal her pain around her marriage ending. Her husband had left her and she was (of course) brokenhearted.

When she spoke with her Angel Guide, he knew this had deep roots. He designed her Soul Adventure in such a way to bring those out. During her time here, she discovered things around her relationship with her mother that had left her feeling unloved and unworthy of love. She saw how she had (unconsciously) created an unhappy relationship to bring this up for healing.

Once she had that awareness, everything shifted. She did forgiveness work around her relationship with her mother and she said she felt the energy of that situation completely heal. The next sessions brought her into a sense of loving herself on all the levels — physically (loving her body), mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

At the end of her retreat she said, “I had no idea all of this was impacting every area of my life in all of these ways. I feel like a huge weight has come off my shoulders. I feel light and free for the first time in my life”.

Last year we had a couple who first contacted us saying that there were no problems in their relationship, they simply wanted to become closer on a spiritual level. But when their Angel Guide spoke with each of them separately, she felt some undercurrents of resentment and fear.

With a Couples Retreat, we always design the retreat to include sessions for the couple together, but also individual sessions for each person to heal issues that the individual might be bringing to the relationship and that’s how their retreat was designed.

During the first session, the cracks in their relationship came out and in their individual sessions, they both got real eye openers. The wife’s father left her mother when she was a young child and the messages she got was “men leave” and “I must have done something wrong that daddy left.” Her father had been very emotionally abusive and she realized that she sometimes felt “bullied” by her husband. Not in a harsh and abusive way, but in subtle ways that were controlling.

She was amazed when she discovered another link: her husband is very attractive and her father was very attractive. Even though they have been married for over 20 years and he has always been faithful, she realized that she had always been afraid of losing him and put up with the subtle bullying because she was afraid that he would leave her like her father had.

In her subsequent sessions, this place of fear (that had been with her since childhood) was healed. She was completely blown away.

In his sessions, the husband disclosed for the first time that he had been bullied as a child. He saw how this was affecting not only his relationship, but every area of his life. In his individual sessions, the shame from this was healed and he said he felt all the anger just flowing out of his body and his heart.

Needless to say, they were both shocked to discover how this “bullying” issue (which they had never defined as an issue) had been impacting their relationship. And you can imagine how wonderful their final couples sessions were…

Both of them came together healed and more in love than ever. Her fear was gone, his shame and anger were gone, and they had a new and deep appreciation for each other that hadn’t been there for a long time. Plus, they received tools that they took home to help them continue to communicate and connect more deeply.

As both of these stories illustrate, if you want to have peace in your life, you have to get at the things that are causing you to not have peace. You might know what those issues are, you might not. Most often, people who come to us to do a retreat discover that the thing that is causing their pain, their anxiety and all their problems is actually something different from what they thought it was.
